Former first lady Melania Trump said she was completely comfortable with posing nude
during her modeling days. 

In her memoir Melania, which was released Tuesday, she recounts how her nude photos were
put on the cover of The New York Post during the closing weeks of the
2016 presidential election. 

The tabloid used the ‘disgusting heaadline,’ as Melania described it,
‘Menage à Trump.’

‘My upbringing in Europe had fostered a different perspective on nudity,
a more open and accepting attitude,’ she wrote.
‘We were accustomed to beaches where nudity was commonplace, a natural and uncontroversial aspect of
life.’ 

She noted how ‘attitudes toward the female body
in the United States were starkly different.’

for the French magazine Max in 1996 used against her husband politically 

The controversial photos were from a 1996 photoshoot from a now defunct
French fashion magazine called Max.

But there was another problem with the photographer selling the photos of Melania to

‘This misinformation led to unfounded allegations that I had illegally worked in the

– sensationalized lies about me spread worldwide, driven by a

MPs are banned from accruing frequent flyer points on taxpayer-funded trips like ordinary Aussies
can, but they can can receive lifetime status credits, which
allows access to airport lounges and flight upgrades.

‘How else can one explain the extraordinary dominance of Qantas in securing bookings by parliamentarians and their staff?’ Myriam Robin wrote in an opinion piece
for the Australian Financial Review.

‘There’s nothing like accruing status credits on someone else’s dime.’

Transport Minister Catherine King has since committed to a
review of flight bookings by government officials which will be conducted by the Department
of Finance this year, despite there being just two months left of 2024.

Politicians’ preference for Qantas may also be put down to the airline’s exclusive invite-only ‘Chairman’s Lounge’.

better representing the views of everyday Australians, unlike
the two-party-dominated system in the United States. 

The Oscar-winning actor made the claim in response to podcast host Joe
Rogan  complaining that Americans were ‘completely trapped in the two-party system’.

‘We have the same sort of situation, but we have a very interesting thing that’s happening in Australia at
the moment, which is the rise of independents,’ Crowe countered.

‘The main parties have to deal with the fact those independents have to
bring a non-party-line series of points to the argument.

‘And it’s working well. It’s working for us. In that it’s making both of the
main parties re-examine who they are and what they stand for.

Rogan mused ‘we could use that here, for sure’, highlighting how US politics is completely dominated by the Democrat
and Republican parties.

There are other parties, including the Green, Libertarian, and Reform parties, but these receive vanishingly few votes in comparison.

Independent candidates can also stand and have been known to perform well on occasion.

Civil rights opponent George Wallace ran a third-party campaign in the 1968 US election which saw him garner 10 million votes and take five southern states, while another disaffected Democrat,
Strom Thurmond, in 1948 carried four southern states on a similarly racist platform but with only a million votes.

The nephew of a president, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., was poised to get
on the ballot in dozens of states as an independent candidate before he pulled out and backed Republican Donald Trump. 

He has now been appointed Health secretary
in Trump’s incoming cabinet. 

Trump himself had previously belonged to the Reform Party.

The former New York property developer had even considered running
for president in the 2000 election under the banner of that movement – formed by former third-party presidential
candidate Ross Perot, who won 19 per cent of the popular vote
in 1992 but gained no electoral college votes.

Perot was the most popular minority party candidate since former Republican president Teddy Roosevelt in 1912
ran as the Bull Moose Party candidate – carrying six states including California and coming
second ahead of Republican William Taft.

Australia has seen a rise in recent years of nominally independent politicians who
have taken votes away from the two traditional parties of Labor and the Liberal-National coalition

This situation is helped by a strong Green party
who now have 12 senators and four members in the House of
Representatives.

Meanwhile, independent candidates who run on strong climate platforms but are fiscally
conservative have been labelled ‘teal’ candidates.

This is because they have combined their ‘green’ views on climate with the traditional ‘blue’ approach of the centre-right Liberal Party.

Zali Steggall became the first Teal independent to achieve huge success when she
ousted former prime minister Tony Abbott in his seat in Sydney’s northern beaches at the 2019 election.

In similar fashion, Monique Ryan won the traditionally
Liberal seat from former treasurer Josh Frydenberg at the 2022 election. 

She was one of seven Teals elected, swelling the lower
house crossbench to 15, with this tally including the four
Greens, three conservative independents and progressive Andrew Wilkie.

Crowe’s three-hour conversation with Rogan, which was first
aired in August, has recently resurfaced in Teal social media adverts.

They are being pushed by Melbourne philanthropist Simon Holmes à Court,
who founded Climate 200, which has given campaign funding to some Teal candidates.

Not all independents elected in 2022 were Teals, however.

Dai Lee, a former state Liberal candidate, defeated
former Labor frontbencher and former NSW Labor premier Kristina Keneally in the south-west Sydney seat of

And, of course, maverick Bob Katter who has just celebrated 50 years in parliament, spending 20 years as a Queensland state
MP before serving the past three decades in federal parliament as the MP for the regional far north Queensland electorate of Kennedy. 

Among his many mad-hat policies over the years include a bid to teach school kids how
to fire rifles and a desire to build a missile
shield across northern Australia.

The House of Representatives crossbench grew to 16 in late 2022 when Andrew Gee quit the Nationals in protest at its opposition to the Indigenous Voice to Parliament. 

The Greens and independents make up 11 per cent of the 151-member lower
house – the highest proportion of non major party MPs since Federation in 1901.

Anthony Albanese has tried to claim his relationship with Alan Joyce was a strictly professional one between a Prime Minister
and a corporate titan, as he battles claims the Qantas boss
was his ‘personal travel agent’ for free flights and upgrades.

However that characterization of the relationship was at odds with that made by
Mr Joyce, who said he was ‘good mates’ with Mr Albanese and had been ‘for years’.

In the wake of the explosive claims that the Prime Minister had Mr Joyce arrange free tickets and upgrades, Mr Albanese distanced himself from the Qantas chief.

When asked about about their relationship on Sunday Mr Albanese implied it was purely in a professional capacity, having been Transport Minister and shadow transport spokesperson before
becoming Prime Minister. 

‘He (Joyce) was the CEO of the national airline …
I had the same relationship with him that I have with John Borghetti
as the CEO of Virgin,’ Mr Albanese said.

That assessment was at odds with the many photos showing Mr Albanese and Mr Joyce apparently greatly enjoying each other’s company. 

Mr Albanese and Mr Joyce were pictured in high spirits on the red carpet at the Qantas 100th Gala Dinner in March last
year.

In photos from the event, Mr Joyce proudly walks the red carpet with one arm around the prime
minister and the other around Mr Albanese’s partner, Jodie Haydon.

Just five months later, in August, a smiling Mr Albanese attended Qantas’s unveiling of it’s special ‘Yes 23′
emblazoned airplanes for the Voice referendum.

Mr Joyce was seen touching Mr Albanese’s arm, with the PM bursting into laughter.

launch of the Qantas’ landmark Perth to London flight
in March, 2018. 

During a Senate hearing in September 2023,
Mr Joyce said he had been ‘friends for years’ with Mr Albanese.

Asked about why he gifted Mr Albanese’s son Nathan a membership to the prestigious and exclusive Chairman’s Lounge Mr Joyce refused to confirm or deny
but talked up his relationship with the Prime Minister.

‘I’ve been good mates with Albo for some time,’ Mr Joyce said. 

However, the then Qantas CEO refused to say whether he lobbied the Prime Minister on the controversial decision to lock competitor Qatar Airways out of domestic routes.

It has since emerged in a new book about Qantas, The Chairman’s Lounge, by former Australian Financial Review columnist Joe Aston that Ms Haydon is also a Chairman’s
Lounge member.

Reports have emerged in a new book Mr Albanese received 22 upgrades from economy from Qantas and
he would liaise personally with the former airline boss for them. 

Aston also alleged Mr Albanese directly contacted Mr Joyce
while in his various parliamentary jobs to ask for special upgrades for himself or his family.

According to unnamed Qantas ‘insiders’ 11 of the 22 flights Mr Albanese received upgrades for were ‘privately funded’ and included overseas trips to Rome, London, Los Angeles and Honolulu, with some being for holidays.

Mr Albanese insisted on Tuesday that the London flights
was for work purposes and all were ‘declared in the appropriate way’.    

Opposition Leader Peter Dutton has leapt on the accusations describing Mr Albanese as being the
‘best friend’ of Mr Joyce. 

Mr Dutton told Sky News on Monday night it was ‘strange’ Mr Albanese had
directly contacted Mr Joyce to request upgrades while holding
a regulatory position in the transport sector.

‘If you’re the Transport Minister and you’re picking up the phone to one of the most important stakeholders in the
portfolio asking for a free upgrade, then again, I think
the Prime Minister would be able to answer those questions more effectively than anyone else because I’m not aware
of anyone else having done it,’ Mr Dutton said.

It has since emerged that Ms Haydon also has membership of the
Qantas Chairman’s Lounge

The Prime Minister denied frequently asking Mr Joyce
for upgrades on Tuesday at press conference in the NSW city of Newcastle.

‘The only discussions that I can recall with Alan Joyce certainly
were not discussed through calls – we discussed the first flight from Australia to
Dubai on the A380,’ he said.

‘I’ve declared everything in accordance with all of the rules.’

Aston was asked on Monday night by ABC interviewer Sarah Ferguson about how confident he was that
Mr Albanese had made calls personally to Mr
Joyce for upgrades.

‘I am very comfortable with my sourcing,’ Aston said.

Asked whether he thought Mr Albanese had been influenced by
Mr Joyce’s lobbying to block UAE airline Qatar domestically Aston said it
was ‘implausible’ to think that the Prime Minister’s office had
nothing to do with the decision.

‘It’s very hard to imagine a decision of any political sensitivity in the Albanese
government that would not go through the Prime Minister’s office,’ Aston replied.

He noted the opening up of the Australian domestic market Qatar had seemingly been sailing through with
Transport Minister Catherine King speaking warmly about the
proposal until ‘everything changed’ to stop it dead in tracks. 

 Ms King repeatedly denied in parliament the
decision to block Qatar was due to Qantas lobbying
her or any Labor colleagues.

Despite Mr Albanese claiming he declared every upgrade received from Qantas the Australian Financial Review reported on Tuesday that
he failed to do for his former wife Carmel Tebbutt when the two traveled together.

Sky New host Sharri Markson on Monday night labeled Mr Joyce as ‘basically Albanese’s personal travel agent.’

‘This is all a question of integrity. Most Australians struggle to afford even an economy airfare.
They’d never be able to afford the luxury of business class.
It’s out of our reach,’ she said.

‘Can Albanese truly be impartial when it comes to making
decisions about Qantas when he’s been getting tens
of thousands of dollars worth of free upgrades to business class?
The revelations puts the decision he made as transport minister
and prime minister under a cloud.

‘Aside from the integrity issues, this revelation is also politically lethal.

Albanese took care to curate a self-image of a housing commission boy who
made it. But now the perception is cementing of a long-term pollie enjoying the
perks of public office.’

Another awkward paradox of Mr Albanese’s  apparent close relationship with Mr Joyce is that the Labor leader in a trade unionist advocate while
Qantas attempted to break the power of the Transport Workers Union by sacking 1700 staff
during Covid. 

The sacking has since been ruled illegal by Federal Court
in a case brought by the union with Qantas facing possible hundreds of thousands in compensation payouts. 

The friendship however did find one perhaps unlikely defender in semi-retired
3AW radio star Neil Mitchell. 

‘Quick test: upgrade Albo is a bad look,’ Mitchell wrote on X.

‘But does anybody believe he was seriously compromised
by having Alan Joyce as a bestie? Time to rewrite rules governing politicians.’

They had their gloves on at the end of the last season of Real Housewives of New Jersey.

And it seems little has changed between Teresa Giudice and her brother, Joe Gorga, who are
said to be back at it again at the start of filming for season five.

Fox News Correspondent Tom Murro told RadarOnline.com the siblings
were involved in a screaming match during a recent shoot,
after she failed to visit him in hospital.

The website reports Melissa was helping her longtime friend, Kim DePaola, to promote her jewellery line when insults began slinging.

But Joe wasn’t in the mood for reconciliation talks, apparently telling
Maria: ‘Shut up and get the f**k out of here,’ and fueling the fire.

Brightening up the Big Apple: Terea wore a bright blue dress with

Joe then turned to Teresa, confronting her about failing to visit him when he was hospitalised with the flu earlier this month.

‘Why didn’t you call me? I was in the hospital?’ he asks.

The reality star, who has long feuded with Joe’s wife, Melissa Gorga,
dragged her sister-in-law into the feud.

‘Why didn’t your wife tell me?’ she asks.

Joe blasted his sister for bringing up Melissa, and cameras are said to have captured the siblings trading barbs.

Insults were slinging between Melissa and Teresa late last year, with the former accusing
her sister-in-law of orchestrating a ‘vindictive and disgusting’ set-up to expose her alleged past as
a stripper.

Gorga shares three children with Joe.

She has said the drama has brought the couple closer together, however.

‘I said, “Did this really just happen?” I was crying.
His eyes teared up and he said, “I don’t know what’s happened to Teresa.”‘

A hilarious Reddit thread, named ‘what is a sexual fantasy you do not recommend’, features the bizarre sexcapades of
commenters — many of who bitterly regret their risqué acts.

The thread began with a question from user u/Fantastic-Ant-4429,
who asked: ‘What is a sexual fantasy you do not recommend
fulfilling?’

Having sex in the desert, a library and on a plane were some of the most upvoted responses, Huffpost reported. 

Reddit user u/ElPresidente714 admitted to trying to have sex in the
desert at night when coming back from Vegas. But in reality,
they were met with ‘creepy crawly desert things don’t sleep at night’.

Another, u/DonSmitty said a ‘buddy in high school’ covered
his girlfriend (including her genitals) in chocolate syrup.
But it didn’t end well — she got infected with a ‘crazy’ yeast infection. 

Doing it in a storage unit was another unusual fantasy which ended badly.

User u/isthisfark wrote: ‘There’s a closing time and if you miss it you’ll
get stuck behind the gates for the night. Then the people who live there
start rustling.’

Not everyone pursues or even plans to act on their sexual fantasies in real life.
But a handful of those who have tried to make
their browser history a reality have confessed they didn’t quite go to plan — a thread on Reddit revealed

Joe Aston got the kind of book launch every first time author dreams of – massive amounts of free publicity online, in newspapers and on TV and radio. 

And it was all thanks to Anthony Albanese’s ill-informed attack on Aston over what was written in his book, The Chairman’s
Lounge – The Inside Story of how Qantas sold us out.

Despite the resultant terrible publicity – which has
led to him being called ‘upgrade Albo’ – and calls for an inquiry, Aston told Daily Mail Australia his book is ‘not a hit job on Anthony Albanese’.

Aston insisted he’s ‘not trying to get a scalp’, but reiterated that the
Prime Minister ‘had a direct line to Alan Joyce’.

The book claims Mr Albanese got 22 upgrades from economy on Qantas flights by personally requesting them from the airline’s then CEO Mr Joyce
– which the Prime Minister has categorically denied.

According to unnamed Qantas ‘insiders’, 11 of the 22 flights Mr Albanese got upgrades for were ‘privately funded’ and included overseas
trips to Rome, London, Los Angeles and Honolulu. 

But instead of addressing the claim, Mr Albanese chose to shoot the messenger and,
in turn, shot himself in the foot. 

He said Aston was using the accusations to sell books and said he
was hiding his employment history. 

‘I don’t see declarations that he’s a former Liberal Party staffer… I
don’t see declarations he’s a former Qantas employee,
‘ the Prime Minister said. 

But before the book even gets to the contents page there is
a photo of Aston that refers to him as the then-Qantas corporate communications senior adviser.

And the first chapter of the book reveals that he worked for then-Liberal MP Bruce
Baird, who held the southern Sydney seat of Cook
before Scott Morrison. 

‘My professional history is not a secret or not disclosed, it’s
in the first line of the first page of the book,’ Aston said on Tuesday night, just before his book launch. 

Though he was grateful for the free publicity Mr Albanese’s response gave the book,
Aston was still ‘staggered’ at the untrue claims about him the Prime Minister made. 

‘He’s under enormous pressure and I know, I’ve seen this many times with public figures and leaders who struggle to see their own part in it, the terrible
circumstances that they create,’ he said.

Asked if Mr Albanese had been poorly advised in his attack, Aston, who is a former Australian Financial Review
columnist, wonders if the Prime Minister ‘even listens to advice at this point’.

‘All he’s doing is talking around the issue and he’s blaming me and he’s blaming other
MP’s for also taking upgrades (on Qantas flights).

‘He’s avoiding the only thing that he can’t talk about, which is, did you
ask Qantas for confirmed upgrades on your private holidays when you were the Transport Minister?

The answer is “yes” and he’s desperately trying to
avoid saying it.’

Smelling blood, Opposition leader Peter Dutton said the Prime Minister should refer himself to the anti-corruption commission over the flight
upgrades.

Coming on top of Mr Albanese’s tone deaf purchase of a $4.3million clifftop mansion while so many people are struggling to pay their mortgage or
rent, the latest blow to his credibility has led to calls for him to resign.

Aston refuses to be drawn on this, though. 

‘I never expected this (part of the book) to even this part to get this
far. I really am shocked at how it’s blown up.

‘So to the extent that it has, I would say … anyone who reads the book will learn that this book is not a hit job on Anthony
Albanese. This book is about Qantas. 

‘Anthony Albanese is an example of how Qantas influences
politicians on both sides of the aisle, Labor, Liberal,
National, you name it. They’ve been doing it for more than a generation.

‘They’re the best influence peddler in Australia. I’m not here trying to get a scalp.

That’s not what this book is about and it never was.’

But the conversation Daily Mail Australia had with Aston mirrors the conversations being had across Australia
and eventually winds up back on Mr Albanese. 

‘Even I’ve underestimated how fed up the public is with the freebie mindset of politicians,’
he said.

‘And unfortunately for Albanese, he’s been in politics a long time and that
kind of behaviour is quite normalised to him, is what I’ve seen. 

‘I mean, he loves the free concert tickets and sitting at the front row of the Australian Open Tennis. 

‘I went to the Australian Open Tennis as a journalist almost every year for 12 years and he was the only Prime Minister (I saw there).

‘Those tickets are worth thousands of dollars to sit
in the front row of the International Grand Slam. He’s the first Prime Minister who I’ve ever seen do that.

‘That to me is a sign that he doesn’t quite get what it looks like
to others when he’s on the gravy train. And I
think (the claims in the book are) just another example of
that.’

In Australian politics it’s regular practise for an MP’s travel to
be booked in economy, then someone in their office phones the airline and
asks if their flight can be upgraded. 

The difference with the Prime Minister is that ‘he had a very direct line to Alan Joyce,’ Aston said.

‘The other thing is there’s a difference between an upgrade
where it’s in the booking and if the seat’s empty when the flight closes, you’ll get
upgraded.

‘This is different. This is a confirmed upgrade where the ticket is converted and
you are guaranteed. You’re not going to the airport
crossing your fingers going “Geez, I hope there is a spare seat”.

‘You’re guaranteed. You turn up knowing you’re getting a seat and the only person at Qantas who can issue those types of upgrades is the
CEO. No other executive can do that.

‘So it is beyond question that Alan joints authorised these upgrades (for Anthony Albanese).’

Aston enjoyed many upgrades to the pointy end of planes during his time as a travel journalist, and
understands the attraction for politicians to get
up there. 

‘These things are tempting and it’s human nature too. Once you’ve experienced the front
of the plane, it’s very hard to go back.

‘For politicians, they run around with all these staff and they’ve got chauffeured cars and they fly in business, but they don’t
get paid like CEOs …

‘They’re not in a situation where they can afford to go flying around in the front of the plane on personal travel. 

‘A normal person would say “Therefore I won’t (fly business class). But (for politicians) it’s a culture of entitlement.’

Aston is careful to point out that most people would say politicians are ‘very well paid compared to the average worker’.

But that doesn’t stop some MPs from desperately seeking a free ride, whether it’s a flight upgrade, concert tickets or the executive box at sporting events. 

Late on Wednesday night, a spokeswoman Mr Albanese said ‘The Prime Minister did not ever call Alan Joyce seeking an upgrade’.

‘All travel has been appropriately declared and is a matter of public record.’

Joe Aston got the kind of book launch every first time author dreams of – massive amounts of free publicity online, in newspapers and on TV and radio. 

And it was all thanks to Anthony Albanese’s ill-informed attack on Aston over what was written in his
book, The Chairman’s Lounge – The Inside Story of how
Qantas sold us out.

Despite the resultant terrible publicity – which has led to him being called ‘upgrade Albo’ – and calls for
an inquiry, Aston told Daily Mail Australia his book is ‘not a hit job
on Anthony Albanese’.

Aston insisted he’s ‘not trying to get a scalp’, but reiterated that the Prime Minister ‘had a direct line to Alan Joyce’.

The book claims Mr Albanese got 22 upgrades from economy on Qantas flights by personally requesting them from the airline’s then CEO Mr Joyce – which the Prime
Minister has categorically denied.

According to unnamed Qantas ‘insiders’, 11 of the 22 flights Mr Albanese got upgrades
for were ‘privately funded’ and included overseas trips to Rome, London,
Los Angeles and Honolulu. 

But instead of addressing the claim, Mr Albanese chose to shoot the messenger and, in turn,
shot himself in the foot. 

He said Aston was using the accusations to sell books
and said he was hiding his employment history. 

‘I don’t see declarations that he’s a former Liberal Party staffer… I don’t see declarations he’s a former Qantas employee,’ the Prime Minister said. 

But before the book even gets to the contents page there is
a photo of Aston that refers to him as the then-Qantas corporate communications senior adviser.

And the first chapter of the book reveals that he worked
for then-Liberal MP Bruce Baird, who held the southern Sydney seat of
Cook before Scott Morrison. 

‘My professional history is not a secret or not disclosed, it’s in the first line of the first page of the book,’ Aston said on Tuesday night, just before his book launch. 

Though he was grateful for the free publicity Mr Albanese’s response gave
the book, Aston was still ‘staggered’ at the untrue claims about him the Prime Minister made. 

‘He’s under enormous pressure and I know, I’ve seen this
many times with public figures and leaders who struggle to see their own part in it, the terrible circumstances
that they create,’ he said.

Asked if Mr Albanese had been poorly advised in his attack,
Aston, who is a former Australian Financial Review columnist, wonders if the Prime Minister ‘even listens to advice at
this point’.

‘All he’s doing is talking around the issue and he’s
blaming me and he’s blaming other MP’s for also taking upgrades (on Qantas flights).

‘He’s avoiding the only thing that he can’t talk about, which is,
did you ask Qantas for confirmed upgrades
on your private holidays when you were the Transport Minister?
The answer is “yes” and he’s desperately trying to avoid saying it.’

Smelling blood, Opposition leader Peter Dutton said the Prime Minister should refer himself to the anti-corruption commission over the flight upgrades.

Coming on top of Mr Albanese’s tone deaf purchase
of a $4.3million clifftop mansion while so many people are struggling to pay their mortgage
or rent, the latest blow to his credibility has led to calls for him to
resign.

Aston refuses to be drawn on this, though. 

‘I never expected this (part of the book) to even this part to
get this far. I really am shocked at how it’s blown up.

‘So to the extent that it has, I would say … anyone who reads the book will learn that this book is not
a hit job on Anthony Albanese. This book is about Qantas. 

‘Anthony Albanese is an example of how Qantas influences politicians on both sides of
the aisle, Labor, Liberal, National, you name it. They’ve been doing it for more
than a generation.

‘They’re the best influence peddler in Australia.

I’m not here trying to get a scalp. That’s not what this book is about and it never was.’

But the conversation Daily Mail Australia had with Aston mirrors the
conversations being had across Australia and eventually winds up back
on Mr Albanese. 

‘Even I’ve underestimated how fed up the public is with the freebie mindset of
politicians,’ he said.

‘And unfortunately for Albanese, he’s been in politics a long time and that kind of behaviour is quite normalised to
him, is what I’ve seen. 

‘I mean, he loves the free concert tickets and sitting at the front
row of the Australian Open Tennis. 

‘I went to the Australian Open Tennis as a journalist almost every year for 12 years and he
was the only Prime Minister (I saw there).

‘Those tickets are worth thousands of dollars to sit in the
front row of the International Grand Slam.
He’s the first Prime Minister who I’ve ever seen do that.

‘That to me is a sign that he doesn’t quite get what it looks like to others when he’s on the
gravy train. And I think (the claims in the book are) just another example of that.’

In Australian politics it’s regular practise for an MP’s travel to be booked in economy, then someone in their office
phones the airline and asks if their flight
can be upgraded. 

The difference with the Prime Minister is that ‘he had a
very direct line to Alan Joyce,’ Aston said.

‘The other thing is there’s a difference between an upgrade where it’s in the booking and if the seat’s
empty when the flight closes, you’ll get upgraded.

‘This is different. This is a confirmed upgrade where the ticket is converted and you are guaranteed.

You’re not going to the airport crossing your fingers going “Geez, I hope there is a spare seat”.

‘You’re guaranteed. You turn up knowing you’re getting a seat and the only person at Qantas who can issue those types of
upgrades is the CEO. No other executive can do that.

‘So it is beyond question that Alan joints authorised these upgrades (for Anthony Albanese).’

Aston enjoyed many upgrades to the pointy end of planes during his time as a travel journalist, and understands the attraction for politicians to get up there. 

‘These things are tempting and it’s human nature too. Once you’ve experienced the front of the plane, it’s very hard to go back.

‘For politicians, they run around with all these staff and they’ve got
chauffeured cars and they fly in business, but they don’t get
paid like CEOs …

‘They’re not in a situation where they can afford
to go flying around in the front of the plane on personal travel. 

‘A normal person would say “Therefore I won’t (fly business class). But (for politicians) it’s a culture of entitlement.’

Aston is careful to point out that most people would say politicians are ‘very well paid compared to the average worker’.

But that doesn’t stop some MPs from desperately seeking a free ride, whether it’s a flight upgrade, concert tickets or the executive box at sporting events. 

Late on Wednesday night, a spokeswoman Mr Albanese said ‘The Prime Minister did not ever call Alan Joyce seeking an upgrade’.

‘All travel has been appropriately declared and is a matter of public record.’

Following her panned performance in the flop movie Joker: Folie à Deux, the New York City native, 38, is releasing a single titled Disease, set to be released Friday.

Diesase, the first of songs from her forthcoming

Gaga’s label Universal Music on Monday put out pre-saves for the forthcoming single, with links to
Spotify and Apple Music, Variety reported.

‘There’s nothing like accruing status credits on someone else’s dime.’

Transport Minister Catherine King has since committed to
a review of flight bookings by government officials which will be conducted
by the Department of Finance this year, despite there being just two months left of 2024.

July 23 (Reuters) – Philip Morris International pushed
the test-launch of its heated tobacco device, IQOS, in the U.S.
to the fourth quarter on Tuesday and lowered its annual forecast for the heated tobacco business.

The pilot was earlier scheduled to run in Austin, Texas, in the second quarter, for
which the company reported results on the day.

The company declined to comment on why the launch had been delayed.

Philip Morris has invested billions to promote and expand its portfolio
of alternatives to traditional combustible cigarettes amid stricter regulations and falling smoking rates in some markets.

The launch of its flagship heated tobacco device in the United States is also facing resistance from
health campaigners, who have written to regulators in the country accusing the company of
misrepresenting past regulatory decisions, Reuters reported last week.

The company also awaits market authorization from the U.S.

Food and Drug Administration for its IQOS ILUMA device, which
it expects by the second half of 2025.

A ban on flavored heated tobacco in the European Union has already hit shipments
this year, with Philip Morris saying the impact from the ban was “slightly greater” than previously assumed.

This led the company to temper its expectations for volume growth in the heated tobacco category to around 13% for the full year, down from between 14% and 16% expected earlier.

However, Philip Morris topped quarterly expectations and raised its annual sales
and profit forecasts, betting on demand for its Zyn nicotine pouches, as well as higher cigarette

Adam Bandt said people ‘can make their own judgment’
about him enjoying an exclusive and discretionary perk from
Qantas during a tense exchange with a journalist live on radio.

The Greens leader has been outed as a member of the Qantas Chairman’s
Lounge, an invitation-only set of catered waiting areas
and services handed out by the airline in what has been called ‘Australia’s most exclusive club’.

Mr Bandt was challenged on Monday by ABC Radio National stand-in host Steve Cannane that
he was ‘enjoying free hospitality from a company that has illegally sacked
hundreds of workers’.

Mr Bandt replied: ‘And I’ll declare that and people can make
their own judgement about what they think about that.’

Cannane was referring to the Federal Court’s ruling that Qantas illegally sacked 1,700 workers at the start of the Covid pandemic in a case brought by Transport Workers Union. 

Commenting on the sacking in June of 2020, Mr Bandt called it a ‘devastating

Earlier this year Mr Bandt’s flying habits
led to controversy.

Mr Bandt’s flying habits have been a previous source
of controversy after it was revealed he frequently opts for business
class and has even taken private jets to election events

Mr Bandt used two private jets during the 2022 federal election campaign, landing
tax payers with the $23,000 bill. 

One flight was between Queensland regional centres Townsville
and Rockhampton on March 7 but he also boarded
a $15,000 private plane along the well-travelled Brisbane to Canberra route
to attend his party’s election campaign launch.

Mr Bandt isn’t the only politician in the hot seat with Prime Minister Anthony Albanese being asked if
he has included both his son and partner as ‘plus one’ Chairman’s
Club members.

He is also being asked about free flight upgrades including an international one
he is alleged to have received from Qantas in new book The Chairman’s Lounge authored by former Australian Financial Review columnist Joe Aston.

The Greens are licking their electoral wounds after the Queensland state
poll, where they are battling to hold onto their two seats after stating they aimed to triple their representation in parliament.

With 72 per cent of the vote counted they appear to have
retained the Brisbane seat of Maiwar but suffered a 4.6 per cent swing to the ALP.

However, they remain behind South Brisbane, which
has seen a massive 12.4 per cent swing to Labor with 64 per cent of votes counted.

Members may bring in two guests at a time. 

Lounge attendants personally alert you when your flight is to board and your personal preferences are logged for each flight.

LONDON, Sept 28 (Reuters) – Philip Morris International (PMI) on Thursday signalled a slower than anticipated U.S.
roll out of its IQOS heated tobacco device, a choice analysts said was positive
for its competitors in the short term.

The New York-listed Marlboro maker also said it aims for more than two
thirds of its net revenues to come from “smoke-free” products by 2030, up from 50%
in 2025, as it tries to transform its image from a cigarette purveyor to a driver of the shift to healthier alternatives.

Investors have been closely watching IQOS’ entry
into the U.S., the world’s largest market for nicotine products, and had
been expecting it from May 2024 next year. Reuters reported
on Wednesday that PMI is hiring lobbyists across a host of key U.S.
states ahead of the launch.

Chief Executive Jacek Olczak said IQOS would launch in four
cities in two unnamed U.S. states from 2024, but a national launch would only come
after PMI receives approval to sell the latest version,
known as IQOS ILUMA.

The company was planning to apply for approval in October and expected it from 2025, he continued.

“We need to warm up the tyres,” he said of the
initial launch, which would help PMI fine tune its approach.

A national roll-out of ILUMA would follow but in phases,
he continued, adding launching in 10 states in the first year would make sense.

Meaningful traction for PMI’s heated tobacco products in the
U.S. “now looks delayed until ILUMA,” Owen Bennett, equity analyst at Jefferies, said in a
note, adding this was a positive for PMI’s rivals.

Olczak also signalled that PMI’s push into non-nicotine products was no longer a priority.
It recently scrapped an ambition for $1 billion in net revenues to come
from sales of such products by 2025.

Instead, PMI will focus its resources on IQOS and nicotine
pouch brand ZYN, Olczak said, adding it had been too optimistic around acceptance of big tobacco companies
operating outside of nicotine.

PMI also announced updated medium-term targets including for revenue and
earnings per share, and ambitious volume targets for
IQOS and ZYN.

ZYN and other oral nicotine products in the U.S.
would help drive an expected $2 billion in revenues there in 2024, even before IQOS ILUMA, executives
said.

That’s on top of taking a hot balloon over the pyramids in Mexico and venturing on two ski trips, including one where she was
seen relaxing in a massive hot tub after spending a day
on the slopes.

March 24 (Reuters) – Marlboro maker Philip
Morris International Inc is working on options to exit the
Russian market, citing a complex and rapidly changing regulatory and operating environment in the country
following its invasion of Ukraine.

The company, which garnered around 6% its net revenue from Russia in 2021, said on Thursday it has
discontinued sale of several cigarette products and canceled all product launches for the year
in Russia.

It has also canceled plans to make over 20 billion TEREA sticks,
heated tobacco units intended for use with its IQOS ILUMA devices, as well as related investment of
$150 million.

Earlier this month, Philip Morris had suspended its planned investments and decided to scale down manufacturing operations in the
country.

Rival Imperial Brands too has started talks to transfer its Russian business to a local third party, joining BAT in exiting the sanction-hit country.

All six senior members of the new federal anti-corruption watchdog
have accepted Qantas Chairman’s Lounge memberships
as calls grow to refer Anthony Albanese over the
perks he took from the airline. 

Gift disclosure logs for the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC)
leadership positions show commissioners are all part of Australia’s ‘most exclusive club’ the Chairman’s
Lounge membership extended by invite only by the Qantas chair.

This has raised concerns over how impartial the body would be when dealing with Qantas
matters. 

If Mr Albanese has requested flight upgrades from former Qantas CEO
Alan Joyce directly, as reported in a new book, he may have fallen foul
of the strict Ministerial Code of Conduct which prohibits ministers from
seeking ‘any kind of benefit’ 

Commissioner Paul Brereton declared Chairman’s Lounge membership in 2023, as did the CEO Philip Reed and
deputy commissioners Jaala Hinchcliffe and Nicole Rose, Sky News reported
on Wednesday. 

Deputy commissioners Ben Gauntlett and Kylie Kilgour declared their membership in February 2024, which means it was after the NACC
began operation in July 2023.

An NACC spokesperson confirmed the Commissioner, three deputy commissioners and CEO are members
of the Chairman’s lounge.

‘This does not impact the integrity of the Commission,’ the spokesman said.

‘Each of the statutory office holders has made appropriate declarations in regards
to Chairman’s lounge membership in the NACC Gifts and Benefits register.

‘Qantas is not a Commonwealth agency within the Commission’s jurisdiction.’

Opposition Leader Peter Dutton and his deputy Sussan Ley have said the Prime Minister should refer himself to the NACC over 22 upgrades and extra Chairman’s Lounge memberships received from Qantas. 

An insight into the type of service offered by the Chairman’s Lounges was offered
by a job ad posted on employment site Indeed for the one at Canberra
Airport.

The ad, placed by hotel group Accor that Qantas contracts to run the lounges, stated they were seeking ‘a highly
motivated Food & Beverage Attendant to join our experienced and
professional Front of House team’.

‘This role is based within the Chairman’s Lounge, a small fine
dining restaurant and lounge area that offers an a la carte menu designed
by Neil Perry Consulting,’ the ad states. 

‘Service is discrete yet attentive, providing friendly and
efficient food and beverage offerings that meets our passengers’ expectations.’

A job ad for the Canberra Qantas Chairman’s Lounge sets out the requirements to serve the high and
mighty

Applicants must ‘have experience working in a fine dining environment and the ability
to work a seven- day rotating roster.

The claims Albanese received 22 upgrades from economy when booking
Qantas flight by personally requesting them from Mr
Joyce are made in a new book The Chairman’s Lounge by former Australian Financial Review columnist Joe
Aston. 

Aston alleged Mr Albanese directly contacted Mr Joyce while in his various parliamentary jobs,
which included Minister for Transport to ask for special upgrades that
only the CEO could dole out for himself or his family.

According to unnamed Qantas ‘insiders’ 11 of the 22 flights Mr
Albanese received upgrades for were ‘privately funded’ and included overseas trips to Rome, London,
Los Angeles and Honolulu.

The book also revealed that as well as son Nathan having a ‘plus one’ Chairman’s Lounge membership Mr Albanese’s partner
Jodie Haydon did as well. 

Mr Albanese insisted on Tuesday that all were ‘declared
in the appropriate way’.
