President Thabo Mbeki earlier this evening congratulated twenty year old South African golfer Anton Jason Haig for winning the Johnnie Walker Classic golf tournament held in Thailand.


The President noted that the tournament was Haig’s fourth professional worldwide win; the previous three being the 2005 Seekers Travel Pro-Am, the 2006 Malaysian Masters (Asian Tour) and the MTC Namibia PGA Championship.

The President said Haig’s achievement should serve to encourage other young South Africans to be the best in the world in the various fields of their professions.
